"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"

Dear Families, Friends and Blog-Followers,

Welcome back to school and into a new year -- 2010 -- WOW!!

We returned to view an amaryllis blossoming into three beautiful flowers, and, Sprint relaxing in his water bowl -- what a life -- AND -- very importantly, transitioning back into the day's routine was very successful -- go us!! :)

We celebrated the new year with crowns, top hats, blowers, and -- yes -- noisemakers -- I trust that the parade was great fun, this afternoon.

The children drew pictures, cut paper, counted blocks, modeled snow, examined blooms, played bingo and learned to put on snowsuits -- a clever twist on dramatic play . . . And, of course, we "sang" songs, "danced" dances and traded stories, throughout the day, as well!!

Our theme, this month, includes hibernation, wintertime and the Arctic, and the kids are thrilled with all of the new books brought into the classroom from the basement -- we read Jan Brett's adaptation of "The Mitten", as well as, about snowflake friends.

Liz led us in the "January" song, and, Kelly taught us, through music and movement, much about the letter "C".

It was wonderful to be back together, again, this morning, with our big and little friends, alike . . .

Love Miss Peacock XOXO
