Dear All,
As you know, Mrs. Goell & Miss Sashi have held down the fort, with the assistance of Tina Johnston and Katie Smith, as well as, the added help of all of our LABB and high-school buddies -- what stellar friends and colleagues and commitment to our families -- THANK YOU!! (And, of course, much gratitude to Kelly and Ernie for managing the logistics!!)
This week, the children were truly fascinated by "the fog", outside, which presented a wonderful opportunity to explain, yet, another science concept, and to play in the melting ice and snow!!
We watched "The Snowman" DVD, (by Raymond Briggs), which is wordless, as is the original storybook -- it was interesting to learn via pictures and music, and, to shadow-dance on the wall, as well -- the kids especially enjoyed the scene where the snowman changed his look by switching around the fruits used for his nose, and, flying, with his friend and creator, James, to the Arctic!!
(If anyone is interested in borrowing the {short} movie, please let me know.)
Kelly and Liz showed the Butterflies and Puppies that when black and white paints are mixed -- ta-da -- gray, (or "light black" . . . ) -- we have been doing a great deal of work with color-mixing, during the past few weeks, and, will continue to do said.
As well, Liz has been working on such concepts as "middle" and Kelly has introduced the letters "E" and "F", utilizing our word wall, books and songs.
Our Amaryllis is in full bloom, now -- four gorgeous flowers -- with another bud growing up from the side -- the plant presents endless surprises!!
Other activities have included, but were not limited to, keyboarding seasonal words, (language-bassed), determining what was contained in the bottoms of socks, (sensory/science based), and creating a multi-media collage on, (sticky!!), contact paper, (hung on the cubby room windows).
Our dear high-school friend, Christina, has decided to pursue Culinary Arts, (boo-hoo), but, she has promised to bake and deliver goodies -- it is good to have such connections!!
Stay healthy!!!!
Love Miss Peacock XOXO
